Bethlehem Lutheran Church
Processed in Adobe Lightroom and manipulated in Adobe Photoshop. Quihi is a near-ghost town in Medina County, Texas. The Bethlehem Lutheran Church was established in March 1852. This structure was built in 1914, larely by parishioners.
ISO 100, 28mm, f/5.0, 1/500s. Taken 06-Feb-2016, Quihi, TX.
The Alamo at Night
Adjusted in Adobe Lightroom, increased the tonal range and added minor bumps in clarity, vibrance, saturation, and sharpness.
ISO 100, 36mm, f/4.0, .5sec. Taken 15-Dec-2015, San Antonio, TX.
One of my earliest photos taken on 35mm C-41 process Black and White film. The silos are off Hwy 151 in San Antonio, Texas. They are covered in graffiti now. This is all tha remains of their past beauty.
One of my first digital photos. The image was rendered in black/white and then its levels and curves were manipulated to produce a solarization effect. Additional manipulation rendered the river darker to produce a more macabre effect.
ISO 400, 300mm, f/13, 1/250 sec
San Antonio Riverwalk
Another early digital photo. I
slightly tweaked the vibrance and midtones in post.
ISO 400, 55mm, f/6.7, 1/180 sec
San Antonio Riverwalk.
Life is Fleeting
Everything moves towards decay. Creatures die, objects get ruined... Converted to black/white and sharpened to enhance the grain of the wood.
ISO 200, 50mm, f1.8 1/4000 sec
Denham Estate Park, San Antonio
Taken around 11:30 on the Riverwalk, this is my first experiment with exposing to the right. The only highlights blown out in this image is the solar circle on the left side of the image. I stepped this image down 2 full stops to give it this moody night-like appearance. No other manipulation was done to the image.
ISO 100, 28mm, f/16, 1/80 second
San Antonio Riverwalk (Eagleland reach).
Taken near the Hyatt Regency San Antonio. This water feature follows water from street level culminating in a waterfall which feeds into the San Antonio River.
An image from the butterfly exhibit at the San Antonio Zoo. This is a Julia butterfly (Dryas iulia delila) a popular member of butterfly exhibits because they are relatively long-lived and are active during the day. Image was finished with slight modification of the black levels, cropped and rotated.
ISO 6400, 66mm, f/5.6, 1/1600 second.
A derelict silo of some sort near the Blue Star Arts Complex in San Antonio, Texas. I converted to black/white and inverted the curves to produce a striking image. With the "steps" off to the right, it looks like a Mayan temple.
Power Tower #2
This image is a re-creation of a photo I took as a JPG a few years ago which I no longer have the original (unedited) image. I converted it to black/white and applied a light tone.
This is a tight crop on my shot which was just more of the same except with some rock and some ferns, (which didn't add much to the shot). Using a tighter zoom would have forced a slower shutter speed, so I'm happy with the shot I had to take.
ISO 6400, 105mm, f/4.5, 1/60 second
This image was taken at a rest area two miles east of Kerrville. As we drove up, two young children were playing, the boy was trying to blow the puffs off, but couldn't blow hard enough.
ISO 50, 70mm, f/11, 1/30 second
Live Oak Hall
t was an overcast grey winter day which stripped whatever colors this image had. There is little difference between the color and the monochrome versions. I enjoy taking these industrial images.
ISO 125, 28mm, f/11, 1/60 second
I treated Sondra to a holiday barge trip down the San Antonio River to enjoy the lights. This was taken by the Park at the Pearl Brewery at the Museum Reach of the San Antonio Riverwalk.
Image is of a tree against the grey sky, processed in Photoshop to three levels black/white and then inverted and cropped. I call this one "Lightning Tree" because it resembles a Lichtenberg figure. It's yet one more way that nature shows some underlying patterns to the universe (i.e. fractals).
ISO 200, 28mm, f/20, 1/60 second
Another image from the butterfly house at the San Antonio Zoo. Sadly, I didn't catch the species of this little guy. The only thing I did with the image was to crop and rotate slightly.
ISO 6400, 70mm, f/9.0, 1/800 second
Taken at the La Cantera shopping center as part of a class project. A use of selective color with the background reduced to grey while hyper-saturating the colors on her dress.
Another early photo of mine, looking at the world from different angles. Black/white with a slight HDR effect added.
I truly appreciate the intricate lines that nature provides us. Branches against the sky are some of my favorite abstract images to create. I wanted to create an image reminiscent of Japanese and Chinese brush art. The one above was rendered in monochrome and silhouetted.
ISO 100, 18mm, f/6.7, 1/250 second
I was walking around downtown San Antonio one day and hadn't seen these apartments before. I was taken with the Art Deco look and the lovely lines. It is presented here manipulated to enhance the lines.
ISO 100, 59mm, f/10, 1/125 second.
A vintage truck standing proudly outside John T. Floore Country Store in Helotes, Texas. Most images capture it from the back showing all the signage. I wanted to showcase the truck itself.
Poison Dart Frog
Another image from the San Antonio Zoo. Taken in low light behind glass, I'm pleased with its focus and fidelity. No corrections of consequence in post.
ISO 6400, 70mm, f/5.6, 1/40 second.
